Listen to Obituary

Robert C. Cosner, 91 years young, of Newton Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of January 7, 2022.

Son of the late Charles and Helen Cosner, he was a true farm boy at heart. A graduate of the Clarks Summit High School, class of 1949, he met his beloved wife Ann in the 7 th grade and could still tell you how many seats away she sat from him and who was in the seats between. After high school, he joined the Navy and was a proud Seabee for many years. Following the Navy, he was a fearless iron worker building many of the buildings and bridges you see and drive over today in the area. True to his nature, after retiring from the ironworkers, he continued to work doing what he loved and was employed for another 30 years as the groundskeeper at the Country Club of Scranton.

Beginning in the 1990's he and his wife went on 13 mission trips around the world building churches, buildings and spreading the word and love of Jesus. While his travelling missions eventually ended, he continued to be a witness of Jesus to everyone he met. Chances are, that if you ever met him, you are on his current prayer list. He gave with a grateful heart to many different charities and causes that were near and dear to his heart.

At 91 years old, he was full of as much life as a teenager. In his recent years he still managed to tend to a small garden, care for his yard and make the best sauerkraut you've ever had. In the wintertime he was a snowbird enjoying the warmth and sunshine of Florida, while riding his bicycle and making sure to walk to the flagpole to salute everyday.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Breslin of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a son-in-law Keith Lewis and wife Debra of Lancaster, PA and a daughter-in-law Lynn Cosner of Boyertown, PA. Also his 9 grandchildren, Frank Sobocinski (Andrea) of Jupiter, FL, Amanda Shoff (Jonathan) of Lancaster, PA, Cliff Lewis (Jennifer) of Lancaster, PA, Rachel Cooney (Jim) of Scranton, PA, Caleb Lewis of Asbury Park, NJ, Noah Lewis (Katie) of Coatesville, PA, Jacob Lewis (Karen) of Lancaster, PA, Isaac Lewis and Karen Hope Lewis of Lancaster, PA. Also his 11 great grandchildren, Ella Sobocinski; Meredith, Michael and Daniel Shoff; Jack and Lucy Lewis; James Cooney; and Judah, Samuel, Abigail and Joshua Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and "honey", Ann; 2 sons, Robert Charles Cosner, Jr. and William Arthur Cosner; a daughter, Christine Ann Lewis; and 2 grandchildren, Brent David Cosner and Chloe Elizabeth Lewis.

While he lived a life with many losses, his faith never waivered and he was the true rock on which his family legacy is built. Although he will be greatly missed by everyone he met here on earth, he is rejoicing in heaven with his family who went before him.

His family would like to send a special thank you to Trustbridge Hospice who assisted his daughter Betty and grandson Frank in helping him to make the transition from this world into his heavenly paradise.

A memorial service will be held at Mill City Assembly of God at a date to be determined.
