Richard J. Spencer, Clarks Summit, died Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by his family. He was the widower of the former Lois Spitzer Spencer who died on December 7, 1994.
Born in Clarks Summit he was the son of the late Harry and Anna Yarosz Spencer. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was a brick layer in the local union 18 in Scranton. Dick was a proud Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Abington Memorial V.F.W. Post 7069.
Surviving are a son, Gary Spencer, two daughters, Lisa Dixon and her companion, Terry Cooper, and Lori Eckersley and her husband Mark all of Clarks Summit; seven grandchildren, Julie, Christopher, Evan, Brad , Ryan, Amanda and Matthew; one great granddaughter, Marin; a sister Jane Lunger and her husband Robert, Schultzville.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment with military honors will be in the Abington Hills Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday 5-8pm. The Abington VFW Post 7069 will conduct honors at 6:30.
