Listen to Obituary
Richard F. Dixon, 84, of Clarks Summit passed away Sunday in Regional Hospital after an illness. He had been married for almost 53 years to the late Catherine A. Kowalchuk Dixon who died in November 2008.

Richard was born in Factoryville as one of six sons and two daughters of the late Cecil Alison and Hazel Aten Dixon. He resided in Factoryville, Dalton and Clarks Summit for most of his life. He had the opportunity to travel out West for a couple of years with his wife during his employment with the Potlatch Corp. where he was a manager for over 30 years.

"Rich", as he was known by his family and friends, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all, especially by his little dog and walking pal, Phoebe.

Rich was a Korean War Veteran. He competed against 60 other men and won his spot on the Army Baseball Team. He was a pitcher that toured Japan with his team until he developed a shoulder injury, after which he returned to his unit as an Army cook.

He was a proud lifetime member of the Free & Accepted Masons, Waverly Lodge No. 301. He enjoyed using his gym membership to hang out with his friends. He was a lifetime fisherman and avid hunter since growing up on his family farm. He loved going to the casinos, not to gamble, but to eat at the buffets.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Dixon, Clarks Summit and Bradley Dixon and his wife Sandy, Fleetville; a daughter, Susan Todd, East Stroudsburg; three brothers, Loren Dixon, Factoryville, Reese Dixon, Arizona and Dale Dixon, Florida; four grandchildren, Jenna Irene Black, Joshua Richard Dixon, Carlin Rose Todd and Kane Joseph Todd; three great grandchildren, Emiline, Titus and Levi Black; nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Gerald who died as a toddler; and two sisters, Gertrude Moore and Lorna McClain.

Richard's family would like to thank the staff of the 8th floor at Regional Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion.
