Listen to Obituary

Regina "Jean" Veronica Marie Haberski O'Donnell, 81, passed into eternal life Monday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing after a long battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Her husband of 41 years was the beloved Roger O'Donnell Sr. who died in 2008.

Born in Wilkes Barre she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Bertha Dombroski Haberski.  She was a 1949 graduate of Guthrie Grade School as class Valedictorian and 1953 graduate of Coughlin High School.  After contemplating a vocation as a teacher, nun, or nurse; Regina elected to work in the business field. She completed two years of vocational training in Scranton in 1955 and went on to work for Bell Telephone Co. as an operator.  She also worked other numerous jobs but was first and foremost a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish and St. Benedict's church for many years.

Shaped by the loss of her beloved mother Bertha, at an early age, Regina was taught hard work. She told her brother Joe the day of her mother Bertha's funeral that "they were going to make it", and make it they did. She met her future husband Roger, at the Silver Queen in Wilkes Barre on New Year's Eve in 1965 and married in 1967. The couple had their only son Roger Jr. in 1970 and moved to Clarks Summit in 1971. Clarks Summit is where Roger Sr. and Regina raised their family and lived for decades.

Regina was a devote catholic, sweet, kind, generous, loving, woman with a warm heart and pleasant smile. She had a strong faith and deep devotion to God and the Blessed Virgin Mary. She went on two overseas pilgrimages to Medegorie, Yugoslavia, with reported apparitions and messages from the Virgin Mary. She enjoyed conversation, nature, cooking and baking for her guys, day trips to central PA, Amish country, the Poconos, quaint villages, Vermont, West Virginia, Jersey Shore, and had a special interest in children.

Her beloved son Roger Jr., joyfully and lovingly provided seven days a week care for seven years. She will be deeply missed by all, especially her beloved son Roger Jr., but eased with knowing that she led a faith-filled, great long life, with close family ties and a certainty of reuniting in Heaven with all those that she loved deeply, where there will be warm hugs again, waterfalls to hike, cross country skiing, beaches, trips to take, cookies to bake, love, health, peace, joy, happiness, and praising of God for all Eternity. We all love you very much precious, dear, sweet mom.

Surviving are a son Roger Jr., Clarks Summit, Goddaughters Kathleen Germak Gonsar and Deborah Germak, a close friend Claudia Alvarenga and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Haberski, Felix Haberski, Stanley Haberski, and a sister Sally Haberski Germak, and two unnamed infant brothers and sisters at birth.

Funeral Procession will commence Wednesday at 1030 am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremations Services Inc., 418 S.
