Listen to Obituary

Regina Bernadette (Inch) Bennett, 77, of Clarks Summit, PA passed away on September 29, 2021 with her husband and sons by her side.

Regina was born in 1944 to Leslie J. and Veronica Clark Inch of the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.  In 1965 Regina met her husband, Robert A. Bennett (of Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY), and they immediately fell in love.  Two years later, in 1967, they married at St. Ignatius Church of Long Beach, NY and resided in Long Beach, NY.  In 1971 they moved to Clarks Summit, PA where they raised their family.

Regina is the loving mother of two children, Robert and William, two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Regina used her unique creativity and talents to operate an independent sewing and tailoring business for over 15 years before she transitioned employment to the University of Scranton.  She began her 24-year career at the University of Scranton in July 1987 and retired in March 2012 as the Assistant Dean, Online & Off Campus Programs.  During this time, Regina earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in History and Human Resource Administration from the University while working full-time.  At the time of Regina's retirement, a scholarship was established to recognize future students who, like Regina, display aptitude, determination and a personal conviction to complete their education while working full-time.

Regina generously volunteered her time in Clarks Summit to her local church as a Eucharistic Minister, a coordinator of the youth religious education program and as an assistant to the church.

After retirement, Regina and Robert enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.  They particularly enjoyed trips to see their grandkids in Massachusetts and their time in Colorado.

Regina is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Bennett, Sr.; sons Robert Bennett, Jr. and wife Tara of Milford, MA and William Bennett and wife Sandy of Denver, CO; grandchildren Liam and Aislinn Bennett of Milford, MA; sisters Jane Murphy of Cherry Hill, NJ, Veronica Saindon of Baltimore, MD and Catherine Murray of Long Beach, NY and brother Les Inch of Chicago, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Regina B. Inch Bennett '93, G'96 Scholarship at the University of Scranton.  This scholarship is awarded to full-time graduate students who hold full-time employment during their studies, just as did Regina during her studies.  To donate, please go to www.scranton.edu/makeagift and enter "Regina Bennett Scholarship" in the "Other" field.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
