Raymond M. Mercado, 62, of Dalton, died Wednesday at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. He was the husband of Nancy Beemer Mercado.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Raymond Mercado, Ramona, CA and the late Eleanor Shoemaker Mercado. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. He was the owner-operator of A-1 Gold and Diamond Mine 2 in Clarks Summit. He was a member of the Archbald Lions club, The Abington B to B Group, The Tavern Association, and was a fellow craft mason in Acacia Lodge #579, F & A M of Taylor.
Along with being a prominent jeweler, Ray was also an avid Nascar fan and loved his trips to the casino. He also enjoyed restoring his old ford pickup truck. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are two sons Jason and his wife Angela, Honesdale; and Matthew and his wife Nadene, Taylor; a daughter Christina Fink, Old Forge; two brothers Charles and Michael Mercado, both of Moosic; two sisters Rosanna Clark, Moosic; and Denise Tracy, Taylor; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, several cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces, aunts and uncles; dear friends Marsha Modery, Pat and William Bryck, and Mike and Angela Sicoli.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 7 pm from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Beemer Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 4 pm until time of service. A Masonic Service will be conducted by the members of Acacia Lodge #579, F & A M at 6 pm.
