Ralph Kowalewski, 89, Scott Twp., died Tuesday at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility. He was the husband of Irma Jean (Beck) Kowalewski; the couple celebrated 59 years of marriage Sept. 28.
Born in Scott Twp., the son of the late Theofil and Sophia (Bernoski) Kowalewski, Ralph was self-employed his entire life on the family farm. Early in his career, he owned his own milk truck to pick up canned milk from various local dairy farmers for Hilltop Dairy. He also worked for the VanClark and Graff families in Waverly as their caretaker.
Surviving are two daughters, Diana Comstock, Scott Twp., and Susan Gammaitoni and husband, Richard, Dunmore; brothers, Benedict, Tunkhannock; Richard and wife, Ruth, Hallstead; Tony, Maryland; a granddaughter, Alexis Benjamin and her husband, Matthew, New Hampshire; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Breanne Benjamin; stepgreat-grandchildren, Collin Comstock, Dominick and Silas Kolodzieski; and son-in-law, Jack Yacone, Scott Twp.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Yacone, who died in 2014; a son-in-law, Robert Comstock, who died in 2016; siblings, Annie, Helen, Stanley, Joseph, Frank and John.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Scott Twp.
