Phyllis Price, of Scranton, Pa. died April 25, 2016 at the age of 91.

She was born in Scranton, Pa., on August 25, 1924 and was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, Ralph Price, son, Jack Jenkins, and longtime companion, Hank Kern.

Upon the death of her sister, Betty, and brother in law, Gomer, Phyllis and Ralph adopted their four nephews and nieces: Jack Jenkins, married to Jeannette, Clarks Summit, Pa., Bill Jenkins, Ithica, NY., Marilou Saar, Clarks Summit, Pa., and Cheryl Leuthe, married to Robert, North Pocono, Pa. Shortly after, her husband Ralph passed away, and she raised the four children on her own.

Longtime member of Jackson Street Baptist Church, Phyllis was the first woman to hold a position on the board of deacons. She was a former President of the Business and Professional Women's Association of NEPA and was also a faithful Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout leader. She held positions at Keystone College, International Salt Company, and retired from the Pennsylvania Employment Office.

She was well taken care of by her daughters, Marilou and Cheryl, along with her daughter in law, Jeannette, whom she often referred to as her third daughter. They were by her bedside as she was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Willowbrook Assisted Living Facility in Clarks Summit, Pa. was instrumental in upholding a high quality of life and dignity for Phyllis during the four years she called Willowbrook home.

In addition to her three surviving children, she leaves 11 grandchildren-Wendy Delp, Jill Hart, Lori Dunham, Rob Leuthe, Justine Lavelle, Erik Saar, Stephanie Mills, Jeff Jenkins, Brian Jenkins, Kevin Jenkins, and Kevin Rosevear - and 21 great grandchildren.
