Phyllis Ann Lown, 93, passed Wednesday, September 9th, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Fred and Hilda Hopf, she was a 1949 graduate of Abington Heights. Before her retirement she was employed by the International Salt Company and the Abington Heights School District where she was well loved by students in her role with the dietary department.

She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. She was always quick with quip and a smile and well known for doing things her way.

Surviving are two sons, Dana Lown and his wife Diane, North Abington Twp., and Richard Lown and his wife Andrea, Elizabethtown, daughter Sharon Walsh, Glenburn Twp., and five grandchildren, Nicki Judge and husband Ryan, Sarah and Katie Walsh, and Emma and Ethan Lown, brother Carl Hopf and sister in law Joan Lown, and several nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years Herbert Lown, sister Lois Roberts, brothers in law Kenneth Lown, William James and John Roberts, sisters in law Joan Sparrow, Mary Hopf and Hannah James.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, especially Linda and Jane.

A private ceremony will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, Clarks Summit.
