Philip L. Headley, 96 of Tunkhanoock died Saturday evening at The Gardens at Tunkhannock. His wife of 52 Years was the former Edna M. Walter who died in 1996.
Born in Centermoreland, he was the son of the late John and Goldie Smith Headley. He joined the Army at an early age and served during World War II and the Korean War. Using his specialty from the Army, Phil began a lifelong career as a long-time machinist in numerous fields. He retired from Owens-Illinois out of Pittston as a machinist, where he still holds several patents for his designs. He was a member of the G.P.P.A.W Union and a member of the Falls United Methodist Church.
Phil loved to fish. If he was not at work, or tending to his garden, he was fishing, often with Edna. He was an extraordinary storyteller and always out and about. Phil rode his motorcycle everywhere and was driving his car up to a couple years ago. He was a remarkable man that will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two daughters Gloria Headley and Myra Headley, both of Tunkhannock; two grandsons Lucky Bedford and wife Colleen; and Robin Bedford, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six siblings, VanBuren Headley, Dorrance Headley, Mary Gilpin, John Walter, Harriet Fox, and Rose Watson.
Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit, PA 18411 .
