Philip Furiosi

Philip Furiosi, 74, Clarks Summit, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 2 at Allied Services Hospice, while holding hands with the loves of his life: Anne, his wife of 34 years, their daughter Kristie and daughter-in-love, Ashley.

A son of the late Philip A. Furiosi and Estelle Forgeng of Scranton, Phil graduated from Marywood College and earned his MFA from Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA.

An Army veteran, he served in Germany during the Vietnam era.

Phil was an award-winning and accomplished artist with dedication that came from the soul. He was well respected by fellow classmates and professors alike.

Phil brought his artist's eye to the brilliant construction business he ran, working so hard every day to provide for his growing family. There was truly nothing that Phil couldn't do: roofing, siding, flooring, dry wall, painting, car repairs, you name it. Phil particularly enjoyed working alongside his best friend and partner, Al Daugherty, for over 30 years.

Phil was also employed by the Scranton Times Tribune for over 20 years.

Phil was forever telling the kids his two main rules: "Don't sweat the small stuff. And it's all small stuff."

Phil was happiest when he was having Sunday breakfast with his girls. He was a dog lover who was especially fond of his dog Coors due to the special connection they shared with Phil's own late son Philip.

Phil was a voracious reader of anything sci fi and enjoyed listening to Kristie play the violin, which he relished right up through the last few minutes of his well-lived life.

Phil was such a kind soul, bringing coffee and the NY Times to his mother-in-law each Sunday, year after year.

Although quiet and subdued, Phil enjoyed entertaining the large McGraw clan along with his wife Anne. He could always be found quietly cleaning up the kitchen while the party was still in full tilt, snickering at the punch lines coming from the dining room table. He would effortlessly mix up margaritas and refresh everyone's beer while making himself a rum and coke. He was so loved and will be so missed.

Also surviving besides his wife Anne, daughter Kristie and daughter-in-love Ashley Stiles of Philadelphia, are in-laws: Michael and Patty McGraw, Newark, DE; Mary and Perry Collins, Dunnellon, FL; John McGraw, NJ; Karen and Lou Pasqualicchio, Dunmore; Gerard and Janet McGraw, Havertown; Ellen Byrne and Chuck McDonald, Clarks Summit; Joseph and Grace McGraw, Covington Township; and Colleen McGraw, Cambridge, MA.

Uncle and aunts: James and Jackie McGraw, and Dodie Wehrum, all of Dunmore.

Nieces and nephews: Shannon and Jason Gunn, Jenna and Erik Palmiter, Mary Kay and Bob Egan, Mark and Lindsey McGraw, Kelly McGraw, Louis and Carolyn Pasqualicchio, Michael Pasqualicchio and Lauren Holovack, Theresa and Tim Kennedy, Matthew McGraw, Daniel McGraw, Michael Byrne, and Kara Byrne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Furiosi and Estelle Forgeng, mother-in-law Jane McGraw, son Philip Lyle, brother Lyle Furiosi, brother-in-law Vincent dePaul McGraw, and many aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forever Sammi, a 5013c organization (1616 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504 or foreversammi.org) or the donor's favorite charity.

A celebration of Phil's life will be held in January 2022 at the family's convenience.
