Peter Toro

Peter Toro, 93, of Ransom Township passed away September 17, 2026, at Marywood Heights Nursing Home. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Laura (Winters) Toro.

Born on March 3, 1933, in Pittson, PA, he is the son of the late Lawrence and Antoinette (Canonico) Toro.

He was a1950 graduate of Pittston High School. Peter continued his education at Wilkes-Barre Vo-Tech and later attended Hyde Park Bible Institute. He began his working career as a machinist and later worked for Gould Battery, where he served as a production manager.

Peter also proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.

His faith was an important part of his life and ultimately led him to the ministry. He served as pastor of Country Alliance Church until 1987, where he devoted himself to caring for his congregation, sharing his faith, and helping others through both joyful and difficult times.

In his free time, Peter enjoyed woodworking and reading, but the time he valued most was the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Tim Toro, Richard Toro and wife Marylouise; daughter, Carol Olecki and husband Robert; brother, Robert Toro; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Mark Toro; brother, Joseph Toro; sisters, Mary Learn and Louise Uritz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Peter's memory can be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Milwaukee Cemetery.
