Peter Thatcher, 45, of Tunkhannock passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, alongside his beloved wife of 12 years, Sandra Thatcher, and their cherished children, Noah and Layla, following an accident.
Born on March 8, 1981, in Tunkhannock, he is the son of Alan and Trisha (Puhl) Thatcher.
Peter was a 1999 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and later continued his education at Luzerne County Community College. He dedicated 6 years of service as a correctional officer at the Wyoming County Correctional Facility, where he was ranked as sergeant.
Peter was proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment that reflected the dedication, service, and willingness to help others that remained a part of his character throughout his life.
He was a member of Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church, where his faith was an important part of his life. He was an active volunteer and could often be found helping wherever an extra set of hands was needed. Whether assisting with projects around the church, helping prepare for activities and events, or simply stepping in when something needed to be done, Peter was always willing to give his time and talents.
Outside of work, Peter found happiness in the simple things. He loved fishing and photography and enjoyed spending time repairing bicycles. Whether fixing something that was broken, lending a hand to someone who needed it, or simply spending time with those he loved, Peter was happiest when he could be useful and help others.
Above all, Peter will be remembered for the love he had for his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who cared deeply for those closest to him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Sarah Thatcher; several nieces and nephews.
