Paul J. Zylis, 82, of Ransom died Wednesday evening at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger CMC. His companion of 10 years is Barbara Myers Wetzel.
Born in South Hampton NY, he was the son of the late Paul J. and Regina Zylis. He was a graduate of East Hampton High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont. He was an Officer in the United States Army, serving in Post-war Germany. Prior to his retirement he was an award-winning regional salesman for the McGraw Hill Co.
He was a member of the Countryside Community Church, Newton. Paul was a member of the Dalton Lions Club, an assistant Leader for the Boy Scouts of America, and a Little League Assistant Coach. He also enjoyed traveling, playing cards and road-trips to casinos. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are two sons John Zylis and wife Kathy, Lake Worth FL; and Robert Zylis and wife Jennifer, Ocala FL; two daughters Marianne Whittiemore and husband Lew, Port Orange FL; and Paula Shupp and husband Chris, Tunkhannock PA; six stepsons Mark, Al, Dean, Doug, Ron and Scott Myers; grandchildren Matthew, Cassidy, Ezekiel, Julianna, and Elizabeth Zylis; Kelly, Ryan, and Jamie Whittiemore; Michael and Sarah Parkhurst; a great granddaughter Michayla Whittiemore. He was preceded in death by a sister Julianna Kopka.
The funeral service will be at 11am at the Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Dr., Clarks Summit, PA 18411. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call Saturday from 10am until time of service at the church.
