Paul F. Dunleavy, 79, of Waverly, died on February 24 th at Allied Skilled Nursing, Scranton.
Born in the Minooka section of Scranton, he was the son of the late Vincent and Helen Loftus Dunleavy. Paul graduated from Central High School, then earned a degree in Education from the University of Scranton. After graduation, he moved to New York and taught at a private school in Manhattan, NYC for eight years. He then moved to Los Angeles and taught over thirty years in the Los Angeles School District. After retirement, he moved to Waverly to spend more time with his family.
Paul had many friends and was a world traveler who especially enjoyed taking many cruises on the Queen Mary. He also enjoyed traveling with his niece, Niki, as they visited many countries together.
He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who loved his friends and family. He raised pug dogs all his life and they were his true joy.
Surviving are his brother, Brian, of Eynon; nieces Niki of Eynon, and Kathleen and Chelsea, both of California; and nephews Kevin and Ryan, both of California.
He was preceded in death by his partner of over thirty years, Douglas Phillips, and his older brother, John.
The family would like to thank Allied Services for their compassionate care of Paul.
A private service for Paul's family will be held at Sacred Heart of Peckville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit .
