Olive Corine Mawson, 89, of Scranton, died Thursday in the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Edward K. Mawson.
Born in Factoryville, daughter of the late Ned and Ina Haight, Olive was valedictorian of her graduating class from Factoryville High School. During her adult years, she was an active member of Grace Reformed Episcopal Church, and later at Faith Community Church, Chinchilla.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Gino Merli Veterans Center for the kindness, compassion and superb care given to Olive.
Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn and husband, Martin Dunleavy, Darien, Conn.; and three grandchildren, Kelly Ianniello, Atlanta; Casey Dunleavy, Glen Burnie, Maryland; and Shannon Dunleavy, Darien.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Lewis.
There will be a private service for the immediate family. Interment, Fairview Cemetery, Elmhurst. Condolences may be sent to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, 18411; or youngsfuneral@epix.net.
