Norman Whitbeck

Norman Whitbeck, 77, died on Sunday at the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Norman F. and Ruth Evans Whitbeck, Sr..  He was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and a Marine who served his country during the Vietnam War before becoming a commercial airline pilot.

He is survived by his son, Andrew, CT; two grandsons; sister-in-law Margaret; nephew Michael; niece Abigail; and four great nephews.

Norman was preceded in death by his brother, Philip, who passed in 2016.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
