Listen to Obituary

Nioma Combs Feeney, affectionately know as "Aunt Nina" to her family, died early Thursday morning, March 29, at The Lodge at Cold Spring, in Rocky Hill, CT at the age of 101. She was the widow of Frank (Francis) A. Feeney who died in 1988.  Frank worked at Metropolitan Life and he and Nioma lived in Clarks Summit, PA since the early '70's.

Born in Yonkers, NY, she is the daughter of the late Harry and Genevieve Combs, and one of ten children. She loved to be outside taking care of her yard and garden and taking frequent walks. You would find her in her late 80's still riding her mower, raking leaves, and shoveling snow. Up until the months before she passed, she couldn't walk past a weed without pulling it. Nioma was an avid reader and loved doing word puzzles, singing Christmas Carols in July, and cracking jokes with her caregivers, even in her last moments!

She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her younger sister, Edythe Combs Heelan. Nioma was also a second Mom to Edythe's children: Karen Cotter Fluegel; Michelle, and Brian. She was pre-deceased in death by four brothers: Albert, Herbert, Harry, and George Combs; and  three sisters: Genevieve Timms; Betty Daday; and Virginia Reidinger.

Friends may call on Wednesday morning, April 4th, from 9:30am at The Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit PA., followed by a brief funeral service at 11:00am and internment at Cathedral Cemetery.
