Nancy S. Singer

Nancy S. Singer, 89, of Clarks Summit, passed away peacefully at home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Glenn who passed away in 2021. They were married for nearly 60 years.

Nancy was born in Scranton to Mabel Kleeman Spitzer and William Spitzer. She later moved to Clarks Summit and attended Clarks Summit High School. She was an avid basketball player during her high school years and graduated in 1950. Nancy was employed by Acme Markets in Clarks Summit and worked there for 43 years in the deli, eventually becoming the deli manager.

Nancy was a very caring and sociable person, always thinking of others. She loved to travel, taking many bus trips and several cruises with her close friends and family. She loved going out to eat. In her later years she also enjoyed going to the grocery store daily, meeting up with friends and former customers who she knew from her Acme days.

Nancy is survived by son Todd, Clarks Summit, daughter Tina Verchuk and her husband Chester, North Abington Township, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Walter, Roger, and Paul Spitzer and sisters, Lois Spencer, Eleanor Miller, and Ruth Hamm.

The family would like to thank Allied Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Nancy. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in memory of Nancy may be made to Allied Services Foundation, 100 Abington Executive Park, Clarks Summit, PA 18411 or to the Clarks Green United Methodist Church, 119 Glenburn Road, Clarks Green, PA 18411.
