Nancy E. Manning

Nancy E. Manning, 81, Dalton, passed peacefully early Saturday morning at Allied Hospice, Scranton. She was the wife of Alexander E. Manning. The couple married June 16, 2011.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William and Naomi Whitford Sr. Nancy graduated from Abington Heights High School, going on to attain her bachelor's degree from Marywood University in psychology and sociology. She worked primarily in healthcare for many years, providing for the comfort of others as a department head in social services at Carpenter Care Center in Tunkhannock.

Nancy was an avid crafter and enjoyed playing cards, poker and pinochle being her favorites. She loved traveling and camping, but most of all time spent with family and friends.

Nancy leaves behind three sons, Mark Zawicki, Florida, Stephen Zawicki and his wife, Dawn, La Plume, and Dale Zawicki and his wife, Melissa, Nicholson; two daughters, Beth Rozelle, Gouldsboro, and Sandra Lionetti and her husband, Michael, Wyalusing; three stepdaughters, Dawn Manning, Pamela Hoffman and Denise Manning, all of Factoryville; a sister, Susan Lydon and her husband, James, Lake Sheridan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son, Alan Zawicki; grandson, Seth Zawicki; and brother, William Whitford Jr.

Services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. from the Lawrence E Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. George Mathews, the pastor for Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
