Nancy Sanders Hiddlestone, 84, of Clarks Summit, died Tuesday afternoon at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She was the wife of John "Jack" G. Hiddlestone who died in 2016. The couple had been married for 61 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late David and Elsie Metz Sanders. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and went on to work for many years as a teacher's aide in the Abington Heights Middle School. She was a member of Parker Hill Church. Nancy enjoyed volunteering at the Lackawanna Historical Society and Mercy Hospital. She loved talking and laughing with her loved ones, fashion and style, interior design, great books, broadway musicals, and working in the yard to make it beautiful. Known affectionately by her family as "Nonnie," she will always be remembered for being fiercely caring, congenial and friendly to everyone, quick with a laugh, timelessly stylish and classy, and bringing outward and inward beauty wherever she went.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Shea and husband, Joseph, Glenburn; a brother Willard Sanders; a sister Sally Taylor and husband Richard; and a granddaughter, Samantha Shea, Glenburn,
She was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Sanders and a sister Audrey Sanders.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 am until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
