Listen to Obituary

Nancy Lou James Adams completed her earthly journey on October 5, 2026. She was the widow of Eugene Adams who passed in 1992.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late H. Dover and Esther Jones James. Upon graduating from Technical High School she worked for the Scranton Water Company.

She met Gene, the love of her life, at a square dance in Keyser Valley. They built a lovely home in Newton where she lived until her illness. Nancy loved to travel, especially cruises and Vegas. Every Spring, she traveled to Tampa for spring training to cheer on her favorite team, the NY Yankees first with Gene and then with her daughter Gail. After the untimely passing of her husband she was blessed to make more memories with her sister and best friend Joyce and her brother-in-law Fred Gaus. A favorite memory was attending the inaugurations of President Clinton. She always smiled when remembering her handsome military escort. She also enjoyed a good shopping spree, casino excursions, and Sunday dinners at her sister's home. Nancy kept up with family and friends on Facebook and FaceTimed with her daughter daily. Those chats will be missed immensely.

We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband Gene.

She leaves behind her cherished daughter and son-in-law Gail and Robert Bielovitz; her siblings Joyce Gaus and Ronald James and wife Caroline; sisters-in-law Mary Barbara Adams, Marilyn Walton, Linda Komora, and Janice Adams; Nieces Esther, Patti, Lorijean, Denise, Dawn and Dorothy; Nephews Allan, Dan, Tom, Jeff, Greg, Freddie, David and Jim.

She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Fred Gaus, Harold Adams, and Michael Komora; and sister-in-law Alberta Adams.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, October 8th at 1 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit, with interment to follow at Abington Hills Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of the service.

Memorials in Nancy's name may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
