Listen to Obituary

Mildred Louise "Millie" Sutter, 90, passed away at her home in Ransom Township on Saturday morning, with her loving husband by her side. She was surrounded & supported by family & friends the last week of her life, especially by her children who loved her dearly.

Born in Ransom, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Bertha Richter Huggler and the stepdaughter of the late Leo Sherman. She was a graduate of Newton-Ransom High School.

Millie lived a long life of love, family, friendship, faith, and joy. With her devoted husband of seventy years by her side, she & Glen shared a sacred marriage, full of domestic grace and adventure.  A true matriarch, she mothered three children, cared for 9 grandchildren, and loved well 8 great grandchildren along with 2 great great grandchildren.

A generously active member of her church community, she devoted her life to serving through weekly worship and participating in all of her church's fundraising events.

Millie had many friendships in Ransom that she maintained over her entire ninety years of life. Most mornings, she walked with her best friend, Joan Degilio, whom she loved dearly. She travelled widely with family and friends, especially enjoying family Disney trips, Knoebels camping, and cruise ship vacations. Millie loved to garden in the summers and ride snowmobiles in the winter.

She channeled love into the daily routine of life, from picking strawberries for homemade shortcake, to filling her home with the sweet scent of cinnamon buns, peaches, pumpkin pie, and many treats to fill the bellies of family & friends.

Millie was blessed with a life of good health, vibrant family, and caring friends.  She shared many special times with all her siblings and their families; she especially loved spending time with her brother Wayne & sister in law Sue at their cabin and also playing cards and an occasional visit to the casino with her friends Tamie & George Degilio.

She was quick to laugh, and always strove to make joy, duty, and abundance the focus of her life. Mildred's life stands as an example and treasure to all with the luck of knowing her.

Surviving are her children, Glen and wife Shirley of Harding; daughter Pam Neidrich and husband Charlie (Gus) of Clarks Summit; son Danny and wife Lisa of Ransom Township; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; brother Wayne Sherman and wife Sue, Newton Township; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Huggler and wife Genevieve; and sister, Edith Dructor and husband Michael; and nephews Michael and Craig Dructor.
