Mildred (Midge) Jean Kulp, 81, of Clarks Summit, PA, died Friday at her home surrounded by members of her family. She was the wife of Robert E. Kulp, Sr. The couple has been married for 63 years.
Born in King of Prussia, PA, Midge was the daughter of the late Atwood R. and Elizabeth M. Rafferty Griffin. She attended Glen-Nor High School in Glenolden, PA. She and her family relocated from Norristown, PA to Clarks Summit, PA in 1972. Prior to her retirement, she was a waitress at the Homestead Restaurant in Clarks Summit. Midge was an active member of the Abington Civic League and the Church of St. Gregory, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's Guild.
Midge enjoyed reading, sewing, camping, and traveling, but her true passion in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Griffin, Jr., in 1980 and two children, Elizabeth and Raymond, in 1981. In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by three sons, Robert E. Kulp, Jr., Cartersville, GA; David T. Kulp, East Lemon, PA; Michael J. Kulp and his wife, Janice, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Kathleen M. Croft and her husband, Buddy, Factoryville, PA; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Cockerill and her husband, Jimmy; Michael Croft and his wife, Nicole; Joseph Croft; and Bradley and Kaitlin Kulp; five great grandchildren, Benjamin, James, and Logan Cockerill, and Caroline and Landon Croft; and several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Rd., Clarks Summit, on Thursday, September 18 at 10 AM, to be celebrated by Rev. John Lapera, Pastor. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 19 at 2 PM at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, 352 Gulph Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 17 from 5 to 8 PM at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
