Michael J. Pivovarnick, Scott Twp., died Wednesday night after a tragic fire in his home. His wife is Jane Jacquinot Pivovarnick; they were to celebrate 26 years of marriage in June 2015.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Mary Ann Dougherty Pivovarnick, Clarks Summit and the late Michael Nicholas Pivovarnick. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and then attended the University of Scranton. He was employed with Regional Hospital of Scranton for over forty years.
Michael was a very active member of the Our Lady of the Snows Parish in Clarks Summit for over 25 years; he was involved with their Men's Club and the Country Bazaar. He was also a jazz musician working for Gallucci and DDC Music and playing with various groups through the years.
Also surviving are two sons Michael A. Pivovarnick, Philadelphia and Matthew Pivovarnick, Scott Twp.; two daughters Kathryn Pivovarnick and Liliana Pivovarnick both of Scott Twp.; a brother John Pivovarnick, Dunmore; a sister Mary Ellen Durkin and her husband Kevin, Clarks Summit; nephew Eric Durkin, Clarks Summit; cousin Ann Kutzar and her daughter Suzanne, Clarks Summit, a cousin John Martin Dougherty Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am in the Church of St. Benedict, Newton Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, Interment to follow in the St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow. All of those attending are asked to go directly to the church.
