Michael B. McDonald III of Waverly Township died early Friday morning at the Fox Chase
Cancer Center surrounded by his family. He was 75.
Starting at age 12 mowing lawns and delivering newspapers, Michael was a lifelong
entrepreneur. After studying finance for a time at the University of Virginia, Michael started as a
home builder in Connecticut progressing to multi-family development, before leaving that field to
return to the world of finance.
Above all, Michael loved his wife and his children, leaving them bereft without him. Michael is
survived by his wife of 39 years, Marjie, and 10 children: daughter Heather, husband and two
children; son Michael, wife and two children; son Patrick; son Daniel; daughter Shannon,
husband and child; son Jeffery; daughter Cassandra; daughter Kellie, her husband; son Ryan;
and son Mark. All were beside him at the end, and were very loved by their father.
The funeral will be Tuesday, April 10. Arrangements are being made through Lawrence E.
Young Funeral Home, in Clarks Summit. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in
Waverly.
Rest easy my dearly beloved. You are sorely missed.
