Michael Andrew Giermanski, 31, formerly of Clarks Summit, died Monday in Gainesville, FL.
Born March 26, 1983 in Livingston, NJ, he was the son of John Anthony and Diane Ellen Wichmann Giermanski. He moved to Clarks Summit in 1989 and attended Our Lady of Peace School and graduated from Abington Heights High School in 2001. He received his Associate's Degree from Santa Fe Community College and his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville majoring in Surveying. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 160 in Clarks Summit, and a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He liked the energy of the city of Gainesville and remained there after graduating. He was employed at R & J Manufacturing in their metal shop.
Michael was an accomplished cook and loved to prepare meals; he was health conscious, actively exercising and body building. He was an avid car buff and was the go to expert for all auto related questions. He was a big guy, quiet with a big heart. Everyone he met came to love Mike. He was an asset wherever he worked, and a good friend to many.
Also surviving is a brother, Peter Giermanski, Clarks Summit and a sister, Catherine Berg, Chester Springs.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Sophie Giermanski, and his maternal grandparents, Edward and Alice Wichmann.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 am from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by Fr. Jeffrey Tudgay. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
