Michael Bigar

Michael Bigar , 86, of Ransom Township died Thursday at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Scranton.  He is survived by Aileen Courtright Bigar , his wife of 60 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late George Sr. and Ruth Pringle Bigar .  Michael was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany.  After his time in the military, he worked for Austin Heights Woodcraft for many years and built the home where his family still lives.  He then worked until retirement in the maintenance department at Met Life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Wendy Bigar , Dupont, and Michele Santarsiero and her husband, Christopher, Dunmore; grandchildren Timothy Space Jr., Exeter, Samantha Space, Exeter, Kelli Davis, Dupont, Mark Drutarovsky, Clarks Summit, Kaiden Plunkett, Dunmore; a great granddaughter, Makayla Drutarovsky, Clarks Summit; one sister, Susan Petroski,  Scranton; mother-in-law Jane Courtright, Ransom Township; two brothers in laws, Lee and Richard Courtright; a niece and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers George Jr. and John and his sister, Judith Bigar , a brother-in-law, James Courtright.

The family would like to thank the staff at Linwood and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the care and compassion shown to Michael in his final days.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
