May Luke

May Luke, 96, of Scranton, passed away Wednesday, March 22nd at Abington Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Luke, in 1995.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor  Herring.  May had been employed at the Castle Restaurant, Scranton.   In 1966 she and her husband moved to the Harrisburg area where she was employed as a receptionist by Ethan Allen Furniture in Camp Hill, PA. Upon retiring they moved back home to Scranton in 1993.

Surviving is a son Neil Luke and his wife Joanne, Harrisburg; a daughter Leslie Wellard, Clarks Summit; 3 grandchildren, Kristin Svoboda and her husband Paul, Clarks Summit, Brian Luke, Harrisburg, Dana LaFrance and her husband Jason, Harrisburg; 3 great grandchildren, Kaylie LaFrance, Madison LaFrance and Julyan Svoboda.

She was preceded in death by a son in law, Larry Wellard.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 2 at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc. from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd., So. Abington Twp., PA  18411.
