Maude J. Staples, 92, of Dalton, died Saturday morning at Golden Living Center, Scranton. She was the widow of the Emmett F. Staples, who died in 2001. The couple was married for 60 years.
Born in Greenfield Twp., daughter of the late William and Mabel Cook Rivenburg, she was a member of East Benton United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women's Association. Her guardian angel was Beth Weidow.
Surviving are a son, Arthur and wife, Maureen, Scranton; two grandchildren, Brenda and Alicia; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Michael and Valent.
She was also preceded in death by seven sisters, Gladys Davies, Anna Sanderson, Yvonne Benjamin, Ruth Griffiths, Iva Panetella, Lillian Gibbs and Doris Hodgetts; and a brother, William.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Catherine Parsons, pastor of East Benton United Methodist Church. Interment, East Benton Cemetery.
