Matt E. Carpenter, 62, West Abington Twp., died Thursday at home. He was married over 24 years to his wife, Malinda Rogers Carpenter.

Born in Scranton he was the son of Barbara Damm Carpenter and the late Glendon Carpenter.  He was a graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School and worked as a residential specialist at Catholic Social Services before his retirement in September.

Matt was a member of the Boy Scouts of America who continued to enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, and anything else having to do with the great outdoors.  He enjoyed working in his garden, growing beautiful flowers, and cooking.  He loved his pets and spending time surrounded by family. He enjoyed traveling all over for family vacations.  Matt was also an avid Eagles fan.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tanya Carpenter Kasper and husband Joseph, Tori L. Carpenter, and Trista A. Carpenter; grandchildren Dylan Tilley, Ayden Tilley, and Nathan Kasper; a sister Eleanor Kane and her husband Brian; and nieces Shania, Anna, and a nephew, Michael.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald T. Carpenter, who passed away March 14, 2018.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the Lake Winola United Methodist Church, 326 Maple Dr., Lake Winola, PA  18625 with services by Pastor Nick McMichael.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 4 to 7 pm on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake Winola United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA  18411.
