Mary Jacqueline Rokita, 69, of North Scranton, died Friday at Mercy Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Carl Rokita.
Born April 17, 1941, in Scranton, daughter of the late John and Betty Lavelle Michaely, Mary was educated in Scranton schools. Before her retirement, she was employed by Supermarket Services and the Scranton Cultural Center. Mary had unfaltering faith in God and was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Scranton. She was the best loving, caring and totally devoted wife, mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She spent all her time selflessly nurturing and tending to her family. Her greatest joy in life was traveling and having sleepovers with her grandchildren. They were blessed with countless wonderful times together, creating lasting memories. She also enjoyed taking rides in the sunshine, dining out, baking with her grandchildren, feeding her adopted pets and watching old-time movies. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank all those who cared for her in her final days.
Also surviving are three daughters, Jean Manning and husband, John; Janet Albert and husband, Rich; and Jacqueline Murphy and husband, Jeff; five stepchildren, John Rokita and wife, Debbie; Jackie Rosencrans and husband, Mark; Carl Rokita Jr.; Karen Cole and husband, Bobby; and Tommy Rokita; a sister, Margaret Szewc and husband, John; two brothers, John Michaely; and Pat Michaely and wife, Rose; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
