Mary A. Mcdonald

Mary McDonald, 94, Clarks Summit, formerly of Carey Road, Jermyn, died Tuesday morning at Allied Services Hospice Center.  Her husband, Robert McDonald, died in February 2004.

Born in Jermyn, PA, she was the daughter of the late John (May 1964) and Anna Powell (September 2003).  She was a member of Corpus Christi Church (St. John Vianney Church), Montdale, PA.

To my cousins, and many of their friends, she was simply Choch (Aunt).  She always had time for everyone, especially family, and an open door for nieces and nephews, with quite a few sleepovers, where pampering was always the theme.

Surviving is her son, Charles McDonald, and companion Ellen Byrne, Clarks Summit, her grandson, Ryan McDonald, Clarks Summit, sister-in-law, Irene Powell, nephew Joseph Powell, nephew Ken Powell and his wife Linda, all from Justus, PA. Dr.'s  John R. Powell and his wife Marita, sons Michael and Daniel, Conklin, NY; grand-niece Amy (Powell) Grundt, her husband Ken and son Adam, Archbald, PA; niece Michele (McDonald) Albright, husband Richard, Clarks Summit, PA; niece Mary Claire (McDonald) Boylan and her husband Joe, Justus, PA.  Also surviving are grand-nephews Richard Albright, his wife Sandy, Chris Albright, his wife Paula, all of Clarks Summit and grand-niece Erin Boylan and grand-nephew Joseph Boylan, Justus, PA.

She was preceded in death by brother Joseph W. Powell, May 1996, and brother Stanley W. Powell, September 1998, and Stanley's wife Theresa, January 2012.

A private family viewing and funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Michael Kirwin at St. John Vianney Church.  Interment at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
