Mary Ruth Mccann

Mary Ruth McCann, of Pittston, died Thursday evening at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Capt. John D. McCann, who died in 2011. Prior to her marriage to John McCann, she was the wife of Derwood H. Davis, who died in 2004.

Born in Laceyville, Aug 16 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harold C. and Lillian Holton Jackson. She was a graduate of Laceyville High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as the secretary to the president of Keystone College for eleven years.She was an accomplished pianist, loving wife and mother, and will be missed by many friends and family.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo Warring, New York; and the Rev. Susan Davis, New York; two sons, Martin Davis, Sciota; and Ted Davis, Tunkhannock; six stepchildren, Catherine McCann, Maine; Dr. Barton McCann, Maryland; Michael McCann, Montana; Cmdr. John McCann (Ret.), Maine; Donald McCann, Guam; and Mary Lee Schofield, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Jackson.A celebration of Mary's life will be held Friday at 4 p.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

The family will receive friends Friday from 3 p.m. until time of service.
