After an illness, Mary M. Griffin passed away at home in Dalton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Griffin.
Born in Scranton on May 24, 1934, to the late Francis and Madge Monaghan Megargee. Mrs. Griffin is survived by her daughter, Anne, Sofia, Bulgaria. She is also survived by two sisters, Katherine Collins, Ardmore, PA; and Jean Reap, Beaufort, South Carolina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was also preceded in death by her sister, Madge Megargee Holcomb; and their brother, Francis S. Megargee.
A native of Green Ridge, Mary later resided in Dalton with her husband and daughter. She was a graduate of Marywood Seminary and Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York.
For many years Mrs. Griffin served on the board of directors for Scranton Broadcasters Inc. A family owned business, Scranton Broadcasters was founded by her father, the late Frank Megargee and was the parent company for CBS Affiliate stations WGBI AM-FM and WDAU Television.
Mary enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Some of her most memorable trips included trips to Europe in her earlier years and trips to more exotic places such as China, Russia, and Turkey later in life. An avid collector of antiques, she loved to go on antiquing road trips, especially to New England. Mary will be remembered for her gift to find humor in almost every situation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory's Church, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Green. Those planning on attending the service should go directly to the church.
