Mary Catherine Gilpin, 92, of Scranton and formerly of Lake Winola, died Sunday at Green Ridge Health Care Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Jabez H. Gilpin, who died in October 1999.

Born in Northmoreland, daughter of the late John and Goldie Smith Headley, she was employed by the garment industry for more than 30 years. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Lake Winola and a Gold Star Mother of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are six sons, James and wife, Carol, Centermoreland; Richard and wife, Ruth, Lake Winola; David and wife, Holly, Clarks Summit; Melvin and wife, Sylvia, Dalton; Marvin, Honesdale; and Ralph and wife, Suzanne, Factoryville; two daughters, Joan Dymond, Pittston; and Carol Koons and husband, Robert, Pittston; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Philip Headley, Centermoreland; a sister, Rose Watson, Clarks Summit; a sister-in-law, Olive McConnell, Scranton; many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four sons, Walter, Ronald, Robert and Jay; a grandson, Todd Gilpin; three brothers, Dorrance and VanBuren Headley and John Walter; and a sister, Harriet Fox.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Colin Morley, pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church, and the Rev. Barbara Snyder, pastor of Waverly United Methodist Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Mill City.

Friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 7:30 p.m.
