Mary T. Costello

Mary T. Costello, 78, Newton Twp., died Tuesday morning at Abington Manor, after an illness. She was the widow of the late Jerome J. Costello Sr. who died in 2001.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Benedict and Anna Yadouga Lawrynas.  She attended Scranton Central High School.  She was employed in the garment industry, working for 33 years at Manhattan Shirt Co., and retired from Elena J Corp.   A devout catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, and formerly attended St. Joseph's Lithuanian Church in Scranton where she was a member of their Knights of Lithuania and sang in their choir for many years.

She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting and drawing.  Mary was an avid reader and loved cooking and baking for her family.  She was a member of several bowling leagues and liked spending time in her garden.   She considered herself a second grandmother to her great nieces and nephews whom she adored.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving is a son Jerome Costello Jr., Newton Twp, with whom she resided; a sister Leona Bozenko, Clarks Summit; a brother Lawrence  Lawrynas  and his wife Karen, Fell Twp.; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 am from the Church of St. Benedict, Newton Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit.   All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Throop.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
