Martin J. Pentasuglio Sr., 88, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday afternoon at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, surrounded by his family following a sudden illness. He was the husband of the late Florence H. Tutino, who died July 30, 2012. The couple had been married for 64 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Lippolis Pentasuglio. He was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School in Scranton. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Pango's Market, which he ran alongside his wife, Florence.

Marty enjoyed singing, gardening and long walks throughout Scranton.

Surviving are two daughters, Leandra Wynn and husband, Martin; and Josele Jones, both of Clarks Summit; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Pentasuglio; six grandchildren, Scott and wife, Marcy, Clarks Summit; Ryan Wynn and wife, Christina, Arlington, Va.; Justin Wynn, New Jersey; Jessica Jones, Green Ridge; Kristin Wynn and partner, Terra Brozowski, Pittsburgh; and Kathryn Wynn, Clarks Summit; and five great-grandchildren, Marni, Hunter, Brock and Tate Pentasuglio; and Emma Sun Wynn.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Martin J. Pentasuglio Jr.; a grandson, Mark Pentasuglio; and four brothers, Joseph, William, Robert and John.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Friends attending Mass are asked to go directly to church. Interment will follow in the Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
