Martha M. Michalik Driesbaugh, 79, of Clarks Summit, died Sunday morning at home. She was the widow of the late Lester L. Driesbaugh, who died May 11, 2010.

Born in Olyphant, daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Schafka Michalik, she lived in Clarks Summit for more than 60 years. A graduate of Marywood Seminary, she continued her education at Marywood College. Martha was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, where she was past president of its Christian Mother's Society and the Women's Guild. She volunteered her time for many church and civic organizations in the area.

Martha was blessed with an exceptional voice and sang at many local benefits and was a member of her church choir for many years. Her faith was a companion and pillar throughout her life and especially during her illness. She had a strong dedication to St. Ann and Blessed Pope John Paul II. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her seven children. Her love for her family was felt by everyone who knew her. A truly dedicated loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will forever be remembered and dearly missed by her family.

Surviving are four sons, Ronald Driesbaugh and wife, Judy, Clarks Summit; Lester W. Driesbaugh, Factoryville; Richard Driesbaugh and wife, Patricia, Scranton; and Andrew Driesbaugh and wife, Linda, Clarks Summit; two daughters, Mary Kay Driesbaugh, Clarks Summit; and Ann Marie Scoda and husband, Raymond, Clarks Green; a daughter-in-law, Carol Driesbaugh, Clarks Summit; 10 grandchildren, Jason Driesbaugh, Katie Driesbaugh, Kristen Driesbaugh, Jennifer Proeger, Kara Driesbaugh, Ashley Driesbaugh, Shawn Driesbaugh, Sarah Driesbaugh, Alyssa Scoda and Tyler Driesbaugh; two great-granddaughters, Gianna Salvatori and Paige Proeger; a brother, Stanley Michalik, Dickson City; four beloved sisters-in-law, Betty Wood and husband, Larry, Clarks Summit; Genevieve Drake, Olyphant; Dorothy Driesbaugh, Scranton; and Helen Koslansky, Tunkhannock; three brothers-in-law, Walter Garey, Tunkhannock; David Driesbaugh, Dalton; and Elwood Driesbaugh, Clarks Summit; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Timothy Driesbaugh; two sisters, Elizabeth Michalik and Louise Garbett; and two brothers, Edmund Michalik and Michael Michalik.

A special thank you is given to the nurses and staff of Traditional Hospice Health Care for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Martha.

The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp. Those wishing to attend the funeral Mass are requested to go directly to the church.

Viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday, 3 to 7 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Our Lady of the Snows Building Fund, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411; or Traditional Health & Hospice Care, 113 W. Drinker St., Dunmore, PA 18512.
