Mark Louis Kinney, Newton Township, passed away at home on Monday, November 2, 2026.
A devoted father, brother, and uncle, Mark was truly one of a kind. Known for his enormous heart, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty, he was the kind of man who would bend over backwards for anyone who needed him, never expecting anything in return.
A lifelong self-employed contractor, Mark also worked at Trapp Sheet Metal. He was hardworking, resourceful, and always willing to put his skills to use for someone else. Whether you needed something fixed, a favor, or simply someone to listen, Mark was only ever a phone call away.
Mark grew up on the family farm, surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and the kind of childhood memories that stay with you for a lifetime. He loved being outdoors and never lost his appreciation for the place where he was raised. Even as an adult, he enjoyed spending time cutting the fields, taking care of the property, and being on the land that held so much of his family’s history.
Mark found happiness in good company and a good time. He loved swimming, going out to eat, sharing a great meal, and taking spontaneous road trips. He was always up for anything, whether it was a day spent at the lake, an afternoon at the pumpkin patch, bowling with the kids, or an unplanned adventure. He was quick with a joke, even quicker with a smartass remark, and had a special talent for busting someone’s chops while making them laugh at the same time.
Above all, Mark loved his family deeply and thoughtfully.
His daughter, Hailee, was among the greatest joys of his life. Mark and his former wife, Laura, brought Hailee into the world together, a gift that would forever connect their lives and remain one of Mark’s proudest accomplishments.
He was happiest spending time with Hailee, his nieces, Gabrielle and Isabelle, and his great-nephews, Hayes and James. He loved playing with the boys, taking them places, and being part of their excitement. He was never too busy to join in, never too grown-up to be silly, and always willing to make another memory.
Mark also shared a deep and enduring love with his mother, Evelyn. He cared for her with great tenderness and devotion, and their relationship was one he treasured throughout his life.
His sister, Melissa, held an irreplaceable place in his heart. To everyone who knew them, they were simply “Mark and Melissa.” Their bond was built on a lifetime of shared experiences, an instinctive understanding of one another, and a loyalty that ran deeper than words. Through every chapter of their lives, they remained brother and sister in the truest sense, always connected by a love that was uniquely theirs.
Mark was loyal to a fault, generous beyond measure, and unapologetically himself. He could make you laugh when you least felt like laughing, and he had a way of making people feel that they mattered. His presence was unmistakable, and so is the absence he leaves behind.
Mark was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Evelyn Kinney; his grandparents, Lionel and Evelyn Seymour; his aunt, Ruth Seymour Phillips; his uncles, Lionel Seymour Jr., Richard Seymour, and Neil Phillips; and his cousins, John Phillips and Tyneil Phillips Gable.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, November 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. A service celebrating Mark’s life will immediately follow.

Mark leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that will be told and retold by those who loved him. His family will remember the sound of his voice, his unmistakable humor, his willingness to show up, and the countless ways he made their lives richer simply by being part of them.
He was one of a kind. And there will never be another Mark.
