Marjorie Gertrude Poehlman of Clarks Summit died Sunday evening January 25, at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. She had relocated to Wellsboro to be closer to her daughter and family after the death of her husband .
Born in Sandy Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sophie White. Prior to moving to Clarks Summit she lived and worked in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Marjorie, known to her friends as Marge loved children and was never happier than when she was able to comfort them while working on the pediatric floors of many hospitals, or chatting with them while working in the school .
She had been an active member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Marge enjoyed life and people and was never at a loss for words with her quick wit and humor. Through her kindness and compassion she touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered.
Surviving is a son Mark, Cuyahoga Falls, OH; daughter Ruth Jacobson and her husband Terry, Westfield, PA; four grandchildren Kylee and William Jacobson, and Jeffrey(deceased) and Timothy Poehlman; two brothers Gaydon White and wife Joyce, Sandy Cove Newfoundland, Wilga White, Sandy Cove Newfoundland, and a sister Belinda White and husband Jimmy of Ignace Ontario, sister-in-law Dorothy Galloway Lewisberry, PA and several nieces and nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband "Bud" Elmer George, a brother Gordon White, a sister Ima Bushey, and grandson Jeffrey Poehlman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday,June 20 at 2 pm from the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 712 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18517
or the Central Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2040 Linglestown Rd., Ste. 104, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S, State St. Clarks Summit PA 18411.
