Marjorie J. Jones, 90, of Chinchilla, died Monday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center. Her husband of 55 years, Preston Jones, died in July, 1994.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Edith Jones Lanyon, she was a resident of Chinchilla and enjoyed summers at their cottage at Lake Sheridan. Before retirement, she was employed by the Clarks Summit School District at the Chinchilla Elementary School. Marge was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Epworth Class, enjoyed singing with Sweet Adelines and was an accomplished quilter.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved holiday meals with her family and annual family reunions.
Surviving are two sons, David W. and his wife, Frances, Clarks Summit; and Richard A. and his wife, Mary Ellen, Dunmore; a daughter, Sally Robertson and her husband, Ralph, Scranton; five grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Lori, Emilie and Jesse; and three great-grandchildren, Meghan, Christopher and Colby.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Greta Dippre, Ruth Pappenheimer and Sarah Wellard.
A funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Arthur W. Davis, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
