Mario A. Terzano, 88, of Clarks Summit, formerly of Bergenfield, NJ and Chesapeake VA, died Wednesday evening at Community Medical Center Hospice Unit in Scranton. He was the husband of the late Rita Duffy Terzano, who died in 2000.

Born in West New York, New Jersey, Mario was the son of the late Vittorio and Carmella Coscia Terzano. He was a proud WWII Navy Veteran serving on the Cruiser Tuscaloosa in the Asian, Pacific and Mediterranean theatres. After his discharge from the Navy, he was employed as a mechanical supervisor by Standard Brands Inc. in Hoboken and Nabisco /Planters Peanuts in Suffolk, Virginia, until his retirement in 1990.

Mario will be remembered as a gentle man with a great sense of humor. He was an avid fan of horse racing and the NY Yankees, and was a great lover of music, especially Italian Opera. He was naturally creative in everything from woodworking to mechanics.

Surviving are two daughters Donna Terzano of PA with whom he resided, and Barbara Gardner, of NJ; grandchildren Scott Stauffer of IL, Sara Montrey and husband Jody of WA, Greg Gardner and wife Elizabeth of NJ, a sister Mildred Mcormick, of CO and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Calendula Becker, and four brothers, Spartaco, Victor Jr., Bruno, and Olindo Terzano.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21 at 2 pm from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit Pa. 18411. Interment will private at the convenience of the family.
