Marie "Cioci Mamie" V. Lisowski Callis, 91, Clarks Summit, formerly of Old Forge, died Wednesday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of John E. Callis who died on June 15, 2003. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Hedwig Fillip Lisowski. Early in her life she was employed as a seamstress at Dutchess Mfg. She was a member of Church of St. Benedict, Newton Twp. Formerly she was a long time member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Old Forge. She was a member of the Polish Women's Alliance and the Zonta Club, Scranton.
Surviving are two sons, John J. Callis and his wife Elaine, Old Forge, and Edward C. Callis and his wife Dianna, Newton Twp.; six grandchildren, Leah LaCoe, June Gowka and her husband Mike, Maureen Dawson, Melanie Lanuti and her husband Larry, John Callis, and Holly Wilson; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a baby brother John, brothers Stanley and Joseph Lisowski, and a sister Joan Pawlikowski.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Allied Skilled Nursing 4th Floor Staff and the nurses on 6th floor at Geisinger CMC for their care and compassion in caring for Marie.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 am at the Church of St. Benedict, Newton Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
