Margaret L. Stanik, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday morning at home. She was the widow of Michael Stanik, who died Sept. 11, 1977.

Born Feb. 9, 1923, in Ransom, daughter of the late Paul and Mary Reshetar Tirpak, she resided in Clarks Summit and raised her children at the Country Club of Scranton, where her late husband was a greenskeeper for 37 years. She was a charter member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Chinchilla Hose Company and a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church.

Margaret was always ready to help anyone and shared whatever she could. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in baking for her family. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to give special thanks to Monsignor James McGarry, the Rev. Joseph Hornick, Dr. Michael Kondash and the VNA Hospice staff, including Tara, Fran, Frankee, Mary, Regina and Renee. The family is grateful to all of you for your support and for the loving care given to Margaret.

Surviving are a daughter, Charlene Durdan and husband, John; a son, Michael and wife, Margie; two grandsons, John Durdan and wife, Jo Ann; and James Durdan; a granddaughter, Christine Stanik and fiance, John Oleniczak; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Durdan; many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Tirpak, and four sisters, Ann Gregosh, Elizabeth Tirpak, Mary Oselinsky, and Helen Makala.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.

Friends may call Tuesday, 9 until Mass time, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Snows Building Fund, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit; VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant; or the Humane Society of Lackawanna County, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit.
