Margaret E. Male, 52, of Clarks Summit, died on Sunday, Feb. 20, in Mercy Hospital's Hospice Unit. She survived leukemia in 1985 after a life-saving bone marrow transplant at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Re- search Center in Seattle, Washington.
Born in Red Bank, N.J., daughter of the Rev. Canon Henry and Ellen Male, she spent most of her life in the Abingtons. She graduated from Abington Heights, where she played varsity basketball and tennis. She briefly attended East Stroudsburg State University and worked for Keystone City Residences for many years.
Margaret, a genuine individual who loved humor, asked that the following be included in her obituary: "All those who have passed before me I will not mention as they are no longer here." She also said, "I still don't like liver or lima beans." Some of the great joys in life were making people laugh and writing poetry. She hopes that when people think of her, it will bring a smile to their faces.
She is survived by two brothers, Henry (wife, Donna) of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; and Mark (wife, Melissa) of Wakefield, R.I.; a foster brother and sister, Hank Cleary of Red Bank, N.J.; and Pinky Kubiak of Chandler, Ariz.; a nephew, Andrew; and two nieces, Ashley and Katie.
Her family extends sincere appreciation to Dr. Salvatore Sciala, Dr. Hamar Brereton and the professionals at the Mercy Hospice Unit for their loving care and compassion.
A memorial service and celebration of Margaret's life will be held sometime in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Church of the Epiphany, P.O. Box 189, Clarks Summit, PA 18411; or to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Contributions, J5-200, P.O. Box 19024, Seattle, WA 98109.
