Louise Winters, 99, of Ransom, died Friday evening at the Geisinger CMC in Scranton. She was the widow of the late Richard Winters who died in 1985.
Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late George and Concetta Squicimara Degilio. She graduated from West Pittston High School and later became employed as a wage tax collector for Ransom Twp. Louise also worked as a presser for various garment companies. She was an active member of the Country Alliance Church in Newton. Louise was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking trips with different family members to pick blueberries and strawberries. More recently, she loved her trips to the casino.
Above all else Louise will be remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She defined what it is to be a wonderful mother and will be missed by her entire family.
Surviving are a son, Richard Jr. and wife, Jean, West Palm Beach; a daughter, Shelley Leetz and husband, Hank, Ransom; a brother, Vito Degilio; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
