Louise Klarer Nichols, 98, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She was the widow of the late William Nichols who died September 20, 2000. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 9, 2000.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Minnie L. Miller Klarer. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and the Powell School of Business.

Before her marriage in 1945, she was employed in the office of The Scranton Lace Works and Victory Parachutes, their subsidiary. She also worked in the offices of the Murray Corp., and in the purchasing department of the Eureka Specialty Printing Co. until the couple moved to Vestal, NY. After her husband retired in 1991, they returned to Clarks Summit.

She was a member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, it's Couples Class, United Methodist Women's Society and the Esther Circle.

Surviving is a cousin, Doris Neily, Athens; close friends, Sharon Rajnic, Warrington; Ray Rood, Jermyn; Donna Miller Unger and her husband, William, Sunbury; Duane Miller, Jermyn; and Dorothy Jones, Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by a close friend, Dale Jones.

As Louise requested, there will be no public calling hours. Friends are invited to share her funeral service on Saturday at 11 am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Dunmore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
