Louis J. Mastropasqua, Waverly, PA, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Born January 13, 1929, in Waverly, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (DiToma) Mastropasqua.

Lou graduated from Waverly High School in a class of nine students. He served as SFC in the United States Army, 2nd Armored Division, chosen as an Orderly by the Major, during the Korean War 1950-52.

In 1953, Lou was a 24-year-old Army Veteran, looking for a job. At the same time, the late former Pennsylvania Governor, William W. and Mary Chamberlin Scranton, were looking for a caretaker for their Glenburn Estate. Lou accepted the position, not expecting it to be long term, but instead he found it to be a very rewarding career. He was employed by the Scranton's for 62 years and was always treated as part of their family. His employment started at their home in Glenburn, then at their Marworth Estate in Waverly and finally, and until the date of his death, at their Infield Estate near Lily Lake in Waverly.

Lou had an infectious smile and laugh. In his golden years he enjoyed his daily donut and coffee at Gerrity's. Lou had many friends who he enjoyed helping and going out to dinner with. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Surviving, in addition to his friends of 60 plus years, Marjorie Billet and William Shields, are his sister, Rose Mazziotta, Paramus, New Jersey, numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by Brothers, Angelo, Lucas, Dominick and Anthony. Sisters, Mary DiGennaro and Theresa Canino. Also a nephew, Matthew DiGennaro and niece, Betty LaBombarda.

Lou has been cremated, and in honoring his wishes, there will be no viewing, calling hours or memorial service.
