Louis Angel Koch, 16, of South Abington Twp., walked into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 26, to begin his new life in eternity.

Born on April 22, 1999, in Binghamton, N.Y., Louis grew up with his loving and passionate parents, Jeffrey and Nardimar Santos-Koch.Louis is survived by his best friend and much-loved brother, Julian, South Abington Twp., Pa.; and half-brother, Rain Keating, Dunmore, Pa.; very cherished grandparents, Maria Berrios, Cayey, Puerto Rico; Dale and Cheryl Koch, Shamokin, Pa.; and Dorothy Zeigenfuse, Shamokin, Pa.; with very involved aunts and uncles, Martiza Berrios, Boston, Mass.; Emanuel and Angeli Santos with cousin, Victoria, South Abington Twp., Pa.; Angel Ramon Santos with cousins, Nomar and Nomaris, Cayey, Puerto Rico; Anitza and Patrick Tiernan with cousins, Gabriel and Daniel, Boston, Mass.; Rosimar Berrios with cousins, Kiara and Hector, Cayey, Puerto Rico; Cat Keating and cousin, Kai, Dunmore, Pa.; Jennifer Koch with cousin, Michaela, Paxinos, Pa.; his girlfriend, Elizabeth Johnson, Scranton, Pa.; and his closest friends, Ty Nichols, Scott Twp.; and James Hannah, Carbondale, Pa.

Louis' strong faith in his Savior led him to enjoy serving and participating in Velocity student ministry with his mentor, Paul McIntyre. He was an avid outdoorsman, who served on the board of Lackawanna Valley Trout Unlimited Teens. He was very passionate about creating very flavorful cups of coffee and shots of espresso.

He recently won first place in the PJAS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science) competition. He was a fierce and loyal friend who will be deeply missed.Louis was a distinguished honor roll student at Holy Cross High School entering his junior year. He was a member of the Fictional Fanatics Club. He was awarded an academic scholarship, and was accepted into the IHM Program, which allowed dual enrollment at Holy Cross and Marywood University.

A celebration of Louis' life will be held Thursday, July 30, at noon at the Parker Hill Community Church, Dickson City Campus, 933 Scranton Carbondale Highway, Dickson City, PA 18508. Family will receive friends on the same day from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Louis A. Koch Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in his memory at Holy Cross High School.
